Feature Artist :: Wendy Pollard
I live at Mogo and create art in our studio. I am inspired by nature and the flora and fauna of Eurobodalla, also mythology and gargoyles.
There is a great art community in Eurobodalla and I am glad to be part of it. At Art Central in Moruya, I attended Drawing and Painting, Hand-made books and Printmaking.
Art with Nick allowed me to experiment and learn pyrography, using a machine given to me by my father, a talented woodworker.
Pottery workshops at Bingie Pottery Studio with mentor John Payne, a Master potter with 50 years experience and the friendship of the women in the class, helped me through a challenging time after the fires. Creating art was definitely the best therapy and distraction I needed.
I was invited to exhibit artworks in the Natural Resources Exhibition. The pyrography Forest by Moonlight features endangered gliders, realising the fragility of our forests and their inhabitants’ future existence.

‘Kingfisher‘ and ‘It’s Good to be the King‘ ceramic sculptures were fun to make!
‘Under the Milky Way‘ is a tribute to our local swamp wallabies that perished in the Black Summer fires.
I was part of a Group Exhibition with my talented friends from pottery class at Bingie Pottery.

After the fire in Mogo, I noticed the first things to regenerate were the Australian tree ferns in our front paddock, unfurling bright green foliage from burnt stumps. This inspired me to do a pyrography with Phoenix which was very therapeutic and evolved from fire, to flood, to Corona – Mogo rises with New Beginnings and Positive Growth.
