Return Stitch

Julie Taylor Mill’s cotton quilt featuring printed eucalyptus leaves was made for ‘Connections to our Place’ – EFTAG Eurobodalla Fibre and Textile Artists’ Group’s annual members exhibition in July 2021

‘ I’ve always been fascinated by Australian flora and its variety. Watching the bush recover and seeing flowers return after the fires has brought me immense healing. I chose not to include representations of fauna in this piece. Our forests were silent for 6 months after the fires. Now, as a WIRES carer and an avid observer of nature, I am aware how slow the return of wildlife to our forests is.   ‘
